Heather Cottage B&B in Aysgarth, Yorkshire Dales National Park is, despite the
title, an Edwardian country gentleman's residence which has been substantially
renovated and restored over the past few years. It now offers superb bed and
breakfast (B and B) accommodation and occupies a position in Aysgarth with spectacular views over Wensleydale and the much
photographed Lady Hill.
The Guest house is full of interesting antiques and the halls are oak panelled with
oak floors and stained glass windows in the the fashion of the arts and crafts
period.
The house offers 2
fully en-suite Bed and
Breakfast (B&B) rooms arranged for your comfort and convenience,
for which we have just been awarded a 4-star with silver award rating.
Rooms are equipped with TV, DVD player, Tea and coffee making facilities with
fridge to keep your drinks cool. There are a selection of freely available DVD
films and CD music discs for your entertainment.
The
Aysgarth Edwardian Alpine Rock Garden,
which both B&B rooms overlook, is one of the few examples of a Backhouse rock
garden which remain in the UK. Built in the early part of the 20th century this
Yorkshire Dales garden is visited and admired by many thousands of alpine gardeners each year and has
recently been the subject of magazine articles and Television programmes
which charted its restoration and re-planting. It is open to the public and we
can offer organised tours by arrangement. For the alpine gardening enthusiast a
stay at Heather cottage is a must!
2006 will see the opening of the specialist Yorkshire Dales
Alpine and Fern nursery where plants, which can be seen in the
Aysgarth Rock Garden, are propagated and will also be available for sale. Complementing
the garden and nursery is a range of
Mosaic crafted garden-ware, tables and ornaments
and a fascinating range of mosaic backsplash designs to add a focal point to the
wall behind an Aga or kitchen range..
We also offer an
Upholstery service.
Angela is a fully qualified Upholsterer and many of the items of furniture in
the house have been re-upholstered and brought back to their former glory by
Angela. If you have a tired and sad piece of furniture - why not have it
rejuvenated here?
