There are many places to dine or hostelries ready to serve you in the dale, with a host of varieties of food to tempt you after a long days hike or during your lunchtime break. Sadly we cannot list them all here, but we have made a selection to show the variety of offerings and so that you can see what is available in the locality.

The George and Dragon Inn.
Situated within the village of Aysgarth and just 3 minutes walk away from the house, the "George" offers fine dining with dishes like Nidderdale oak smoked salmon followed by Pan fried rump of veal on crushed new potatoes with Wensleydale blue, wild mushroom and Madeira Cream sauce.
Advance bookings may be required (especially at weekends):

The Wensleydale Heifer.
5 minutes drive away in West Witton, this award-winning restaurant specialises in fish dishes which are mouth-wateringly tempting. It provides dishes like Brixham sardines 'A La Plancha' followed by whole Grande Dorade, baked with crab, ginger and coriander cream....delicious!
Advance bookings always recommended.

The Coppice cafe
also known locally as "Karen's" this cafe is a great place for light lunches with a selection of ploughmans, baked potatoes and soups to satisfy any walker's empty stomach!. Karen's can be found just a 15 minute walk away (or 3 minute drive) tucked away in the woods at the Aysgarth falls tourist visitor centre.
No advance bookings necessary

The Crown Inn,   Askrigg.
10 minutes drive away the Crown, also known locally as "Jim's" (or "The Jim") is a very traditional dales pub serving excellent ales and traditional English food such as meat pies and mashed potatoes with lashings of gravy and custardy puddings to keep anyone warm on a chill winters day. Real comfort food washed down with some of the finest ales in the dale - what can be better!
No advance bookings taken.

This is only a small selection of what is on offer in the dale. There are many more cafe's, pubs and restaurants to cater to all tastes, especially if you wish to travel further afield  to the old market towns of Leyburn (10 minutes drive) and Hawes (15 minutes drive).

If you wish to discuss dining or would like us to make arrangements on your behalf before you arrive then we would be happy to help you.
