There are many places to dine or hostelries ready to serve you in the dale,
with a host of varieties of food to tempt you after a long days hike or during
your lunchtime break. Sadly we cannot list them all here, but we have made a
selection to show the variety of offerings and so that you can see what is
available in the locality.

The George and Dragon Inn.
Situated within the village of Aysgarth and just 3 minutes walk
away from the house, the "George" offers fine dining with dishes like Nidderdale
oak smoked salmon followed by Pan fried rump of veal on crushed new potatoes
with Wensleydale blue, wild mushroom and Madeira Cream sauce.

The Wensleydale Heifer.
5 minutes drive away in West Witton, this award-winning restaurant specialises in fish dishes
which are mouth-wateringly tempting. It provides dishes like Brixham sardines 'A
La Plancha' followed by whole Grande Dorade, baked with crab, ginger and
coriander cream....delicious!

The Coppice cafe
also known locally as "Karen's" this cafe is a great place for light lunches
with a selection of ploughmans, baked potatoes and soups to satisfy any walker's
empty stomach!. Karen's can be found just a 15 minute walk away (or 3 minute
drive) tucked away in the woods at the Aysgarth falls tourist visitor centre.

The Crown Inn, Askrigg.
10 minutes drive away the Crown, also known locally as "Jim's" (or
"The Jim") is a very
traditional dales pub serving excellent ales and traditional English food such
as meat pies and mashed potatoes with lashings of gravy and custardy puddings
to keep anyone warm on a chill winters day. Real comfort food washed down with
some of the finest ales in the dale - what can be better!

This is only a small selection of what is on offer in the dale. There are
many more cafe's, pubs and restaurants to cater to all tastes, especially if you
wish to travel further afield to the old market towns of Leyburn (10
minutes drive) and Hawes (15 minutes drive).
